A ranch with a story
Gorrono was a working sheep ranch long before it was a ski run — and the buildings never stopped being the point.
From homestead to mid-mountain lodge
The ranch was homesteaded by the Basque family whose name it still carries, and the buildings that housed a sheep operation now house one of the best-known mid-mountain lodges at any ski resort in North America. Log walls, a stone fireplace and the historic Gorrono Saloon are all still in use at 10,100 feet.
The Gorrono Saloon
The historic saloon is the indoor heart of the ranch — the place to thaw out between runs, with the Outpost Bar handling the deck crowd outside.

Chuck's Famous Chili
It's on the menu in its own right, in a bowl or over a baked potato or in a Chili Mac. Vegetarian chili sits right next to it.
